SiresIn the spring of 2006 we chose SAV 5175 Bando 5354 at the Schaff Angus Valley "EPD Excellence Sale" as our herd bull. "Bando" is a super complete, well-balanced herdsire with strong arithmetic. His temperament is that of a 4-H calf. We are looking forward to Bando 5354's first calf crop in 2007.
Bando 5175 is a legendary Schaff Angus Valley herdsire who has achieved Pathfinder status. He is unmatched by any proven sire in the Angus breed for his combination of performance and maternal traits. His EPDs for weaning weight, yearling weight and milk rank in the breed's top 1% with a scrotal EPD in the top 10%. He awards his progeny with tremendous length, capacity and pounds along with added growth and power. His feminine, heavy milking daughters display beautiful udder quality and are some of the most productive cows in the breed. Bando 5175 has generated more than one million dollars in semen revenue for Genex AI Stud. Bando 5354's heavy milking dam is from the famous Emblynette cow family. His dam, SAV Emblynette 9107 is one of seventeen daughters of the prolific Pathfinder, SAV Emblynette 7319, working in the SAV herd. The goal of our Registered Black Angus breeding program is to begin with the end in mind. The ideal end for us is a herd bull for our commercial customer that:
Our focus is on a heavy weaning calf with a quality carcass that will earn more money for our bull customers. We will accomplish these goals by selecting AI sires that meet our ridged Expected Progeny Difference (EPD) selection requirements. These EPD requirements are:
Breeders who claim you have to give up some heritable traits to gain others are wrong. Many popular sires in AI Studs are proving them wrong, as well as animal science departments at Kansas State University, Iowa State University, and others. You can have a balanced animal in all the important economic areas without going to extremes by ignoring other traits. We believe if we follow our breeding plan, our bulls will make you more money in your commercial breeding program. |
